Default Owen Dyneto OC1B Question

Is there a bushing that is pressed into the wiper hole into the motor base? See attached file.

I can't answer this question but I do know that other of these types of accessories were not real super type quality. The zinc die casting was the bushing. The different horn designs varied. Some had bushings and some didn't.

I think you can make a decision based on the fit of the shaft and whether you plan to use the car a lot. If the shaft is loose then there should be a bushing. Or if the shaft is not loose but you plan on using the car a lot, then you can enlarge the hole and press in a bronze bushing. The type of bushing that is porous and saturated with oil works well.

Thanks for the inputs. I believe there must be a bushing that was originally in the base plate. I am currently in the process of replacing the base plate on a new to me OD C1B for my 1929 Business coupe. The motor seems to be in good working order, and when powered the wiper shaft will twist back and forth but wobble greatly and sometimes disengages. Like most of these old wipers they have been gone through. So I wanted to ping the community on whether I'm missing the bushing. The shaft is 0.25 inches in diameter and the hole is a little over 5/16". So I don't think the pot metal would have been worn out so nicely rounded if originally the wiper shaft ran against the pot metal. I know the OD C3's did run their wiper shafts through and on the pot metal.

I'm attaching another picture showing just how sloppy the fit would be. At any rate I will be figuring out how to bush this shaft to make the wiper run the way I believe it should. The blue arrows point to the 0.25" shaft diameter, the red point to the 5/16" hole.

On Sport and Business Coupes, the shaft carries through the windshield frame so that the manual lever feature can be used. This give a second area of support so keep that in mind when operating the wiper motor.
