I removed the engine in 1947, Things I would do different remove the battery holder, and medal piece in front of radiator. I do think you can take both at same time. Someone will chime in.

We put the engine/trans combo back in my '47 convertible as a unit. It wasn't too difficult at all, a little maneuvering and wiggling got it done. We removed it as a unit also.

Flyboy89,

Did you remove the front clip or just the hood?

Hood, radiator and upper deflector that sits in front of the radiator come off. If you remove the entire front clip, getting the hood to fit will open a whole set of problems.
