I just finished rebuilding this 1929-1930 style model A generator. This earlier style has ball bearings at both ends and the terminal post at the pulley end. The armature was tested for opens, shorts and grounds. The commutator was lathe turned and mica undercut using a proper undercutting machine. The windings were then sealed. The fields were tested, then stripped, rewrapped and rewired. It has a new terminal post, insulators and wiring. New brushes and new sealed bearings at both ends. The original Ford cutout was serviced including dressing the points, adjusting point gap, air gap and closure voltage. A new cadmium cover was installed with new hardware and insulators. Its been run on my test stand and adjusted to about 4 amps. It is ready to provide many years of reliable service. Send your email address and I'll send a video of it running on my test stand. Price is $275 plus shipping and insurance. It will fit in a medium USPS flat rate box. Thanks Steve Last edited by ndnchf; 12-20-2023 at 07:18 PM. |
