DIRTY DOZEN Dirt Track Demons

June 4, 2017, is the first annual DIRTY DOZEN. We've rented the high banked Abilene Speedway dirt track. The field is open to pre 1928 race cars and race cars that are predominately period correct to some time prior to 1928.

3 spots are filled. 9 are available.

This is a non profit venture. It's a group of guys out for a great time using our cars as intended: on the dirt race track. A participation fee of $175 per car covers track rental costs, track expenses, and pit pass for driver and mechanic. Additional pit passes are available for a nominal cost. Required safety equipment includes seat belts, helmets, and eye protection (either face shield or goggles). Not a race car driver? Don't worry - none of us qualify as race car drivers.

Racing will begin with timed laps with the field then divided into 2 groups based upon times. Racing is head to head with two cars on the track at a time. Each car races every other car in its group and everyone gets equal track time. Then, the winners of each group race each other for ultimate bragging rights. Following that, grudge matches for the remaining time.

The event begins at 11 am and concludes at 4 pm.

This year's Dirty Dozen have first choice at next year's event. At the moment, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas are represented.
