Been running the Facet, (Purolater, Elmira NY, USA) on the roadster. They are self regulating, solid state, and can be bought with any pressure range your want. Big drawback as pointed out is they no longer make a 6 volt pump. Maybe if enough of us lobbied them they would crank some out.

It may not be as much an issue up north, but I had a Facet like that and after an hour or so at highway speed in the summer, it would quit working, due to heat. It finally died on a trip across TX. I had it replaced it with a Delco electric pump at a shop, the mechanic said "We replace a lot of these". No more problems since then. (This was not on a flathead) YMMV...

I run a 12V Facet by Purloater, Made in NY state, in the roadster as backup for the mechanical. They are used in experimental aircraft and sold by Aircraft & Spruce. I would like to put one in the 6V '40 coupe, any suggestion on getting 6V from 12V.

Forgot to add, with the pipes on the roadster and 40 you will never hear the pump except when you prime the fuel system before starting,

Am i wrong to suggest that the 12 volt pumps will run on 6 volts albeit at around 2 pounds pressure, which is all you need any way?

Good question, will the 12V pump run on 6 volts ? May call Purolater tech in NY to see what they say, and post.

I have one of the Carter 6V pumps on my T, rated at 2-4LB. I will have to put a pressure regulator on it, but even with the engine off (LOL) you really have to get up close to et or the carb to hear it.

I have the Carter pumps on two cars, one for 10 years. They are quiet. I had the Facet pump rubber mounted on my roadster and it sounded like a chain saw when you turned the key.
