Question 57 Merc Steering Wheel>>>57 Ford Column

I have a friend who has a very nice 57 2 door sedan(Fairlaine) and he wanted to use the beautiful 57 Mercury steering wheel on his 57 Ford.
I am not certain, but I believe the spline count on the wheel and the Ford Column will match... but then there is the horn question. As we know a stock 57 Ford horn wiring travels straight up through the centre of the steering shaft.
I have no idea how a 57 Merc is wired ...... but looking on the underside of the 57 Merc wheel.... the horn contact seems to be on the outside... not the centre like a 57 Ford.I personally do not have a 57 Merc Manuel.
Anyone ever seen this done before or any solutions?

Found this link, scroll down to page 17. Sounds like the horn wire runs down the column cover vice down the center of the column like the Ford.

Not sure, but I think you may need to use '58/59 Ford horn contact plate that goes directly under the steering wheel and mounted in the steering hub. Those had the horn wire terminal routed thru a bushed hole in the contact plate off center, rather than poking up thru the middle.
Note also that the manual trans and Fordomatic trans cars had different steering hubs so you need to get the contact plate that fits your hub.
