Default Easy, once you know how

How do I get the button removed from the rod on my parking brake handle? I see a pin; drive it through? I gave it a couple wacks with a punch and small hammer. Didn't budge. Pound away?
Oh, it's a '29 with the push button type parking brake handle.

"I see a pin; drive it through?"
Yes. Put a little Kroil on it first.

I would suggest to remove the push button from the rod to drill out the pin. I tried knocking it out with a punch and hammer; disaster. Bent the rod and broke the plastic finger grip. Probably poor technique on my part, but be aware things can go wrong.
Had a ratchet, pawl and rod ordered and the plastic pieces can be JB welded together, so I'm not too bummed out.

Can't think of any plastic on the brake handle, do you have a picture.
