Flying Quail radiator cap ???
More questions. The last family that had my new truck gave me a box of parts and to my surprise, a Flying Quail.
Questions: 1. Why the quail ? 2. Is it only Model A's for the Quail ? 3. Will the other A owners laugh at me for having WW tires and a Flying Quail radiator cap on a pick-up ? I searched and found a lot of caps but no info on why. Thanks |

Re: Flying Quail radiator cap ???
My pickup had a Quail on it when I bought it. It has since flown away and I just have a standard cap on it now. No whitewalls though.

Re: Flying Quail radiator cap ???
I was of the understanding it represented "quick starts" like when one would spook an actual quail...

Re: Flying Quail radiator cap ???
It is your truck so do as you want and don't worry about the laughers ! My truck has the Motometer radiator cap. I have Blackwalls on the truck and whites on all my other A's.. If the whites bother you turn them around and let the white side face in and paint the white black. Welcome to the Barn and enjoy your new toy ! Wayne

Re: Flying Quail radiator cap ???
BTW If that is an original flying quail it is worth some pretty good money. I have a repro on my car and love it. I raise some quail and they are an interesting little bird.

Re: Flying Quail radiator cap ???
As I understand it, the Quail was selected by Henry Ford from many options. He chose the Quail because it represents a Quick getaway. As for what others think about you having it on a pickup, it may not be correct but at the end of the day its your vehicle so if your happy do it. I have found it doesn't matter what you do, someone will pick it to bits. Just say lets have a look at your car.
