Default Engine number pad texture

When someone decides to grind off the engine number on a block, the pad then becomes smooth and does not have the "texture" it once had before grinding.

Is there something that might work to "stamp" the ground pad with to recreate that original texture that has been removed?

Try laying a piece of course sandpaper on the spot and hit it with a hammer. The grit of the sandpaper may "dent" the surface and give a closer stock look.

The needle scaler does a good job, if you want a varied texture take a dulled centerpunch and make many random small dimples, then blend them with the needle scaler, if it comes out too rough media blast some
