New old wood for the bed of a 28 pick up
What a score on the new old wood for the bed of the model A. Got it from our neighborhood lumber yard that has gone out of business due to the man (home depot and Lowes). This lumber yard is circa 1905, the wood was part of the outside storage racks that they just tour down, the guy in the yard handed it to me through a locked fence and said to keep it on the QT. My guess is the wood is not as old as 1905, but close to that time. Because I could only get 2 x 10 boards, I had to rip them down to fit my needs. The wood in the bed requires a thickness of 13/16, not a easy find at any lumber yard. The second best part of this adventure was the guy in the yard would not take any money only a promise of a ride in the Model A when its done. Used about half of the original carriage bolts (42 in total) were rusty but will hold for another 10 years. At this point in this project the Model A is ready for work.
