Luggage trunk

In the era (1927-1933), who made the luggage trunks? I have heard that Briggs might have, and used short and leftover roof material for the outside covering??

I was just looking for information.

During the late twenties and early thirties - EVERYBODY made trunks for a huge variety of marques, including Ford. There must be about twenty different original (vintage) manufacturers that I personally had seen on cars, and another 15 or 20 that I have seen in advertisements of the time. None of them were Briggs, nor have I ever heard that any trunks were made by Briggs.

There were more than 400 trunk manufacturers from the mid-1800s to the mid 1930's. At least 10% of these manufacturers created as a sideline the making of wooden (and covered) car trunks in addition to their luggage trunks and steamer trunks (which were not that large as a whole). Additionally, other companies making parts for cars had a small line making car trunks. My antique trunk was made by a car spring manufacturer in San Francisco between 1915 and 1930. I know of no book covering just car trunks. I have a wardrobe trunk that is covered in the same top material the Model A used. I've never seen another one like it. I'll post a picture if I can find my camera.
I should sell it since I'll probably never use it.

Well....I built my own trunk from plywood, covered with fake leather. I attached it to the rack today.

Looks great Brian. The factory approved trunks were made by Taylor Trunks. Some of them had a Taylor emblem / logo on them. But as has been stated, there were many other manufacturers at the time all trying to attract scarce depression dollars.

I have one on my tudor that says Packard on a small brass plate. It was a couple inches wider than my rack so I modified my rack to fit the trunk. This particular trunk has the lid that opens like a tailgate instead of on top. This is a good feature I think and works good for me.
