Default Vintage banger engine

With great enthusiasm I want to tell I found an old model A ford engine with a lot of history in racing in my city because belonged to a man, who in the seventies ... competed in the category "Limited 31 " along country roads ...
Model A block with a system of forced lubrication , from a hole under the bolt that holding the oil pump on the block, Oil pump have some work for this, model "B" 32-34 head (marked letter C) and waterpump , drilled A crankshaft , reground B camshaft , has also a hole to place a fuel pump, lightened flywheel, Block is marked A2434****** It is not a model B block...

If that serial number is correct, you have one of the earliest Model "A" engines on the planet. That is worth a lot, by itself ! Can you post a photo of it ?

Mike,

There are 6 *'s after the 'A2434'. "Block is marked A2434******"

Thanks for sharing ! It is always interesting to me, to see how 'old timey' racers/engine builders applied their knowledge and experience.
So, from what I see, looks like he plumbed full pressure to the MAINS, like Ford did to his B block. Do not see full pressure drilling to rods..correct ?
I'd like to know/see more of the 'fuel pump' hole (inside) that he made in this A block, as have never heard of that from any old timers ! He must have used a B CAM , with fuel pump lobe, eh ?
From little I can see of the ports, it appears that PORTING was attempted and done until went thru the casting, then brazed/welded up holes to water jackets ? I've done porting in both intake and exhaust on A / B blocks. You have to be very careful/judicial about when to stop. I've seen horrible over zealous porting cause a lot of brazing to be tried as repairs. Such repairs can be made, but how long will they hold up , is anybody's guess. Great find, congrats

Modified oil pump, some material was adding on the top making the oil not fluid totally to the valve case... Questions about this? How the valves, cam bushings and front gear were lubed if is the oil is totally redirect to the mains?

In the valve case you can see the gallery oil system maked from tubes epoxied to the ariginal oil holes and a little tube epoxied to the original model A oil tube, this tube was plain on the top possible for sprayed oil to front gears?

I have poor knowlegde about C engines, about the full pressuring oil system... They not have the oil return tube like the model A... The oil pump is the same like the model A?

The gain from streamlining the flow by polishing the ports is too small to risk cutting through or overly thinning the block walls. A more efficient way to better breathing is a larger flow rate downdraft carburetor with an intake manifold, a camshaft grind and larger valve combination to match.
