Default steering arm and shock link balls

Just curious if diameter is more important than uniformity.
I'm planning on using the Teflon inserts for both steering arms, and the shock links. It says in the catalogs that it's important that the balls be round. What about diameter. Can they be some what smaller than original and still work.
By the way, what are the diameters of the original balls for the shock links and steering?

If not round they will cause wear in anything that comes in contact with them, steel or teflon. If smaller then designed they will not seat properly and have a tendency to move in the seats negating the action of the shock.

Round and proper size is the proper way to go.

Ok. Thanks guys.
So I guess it's best just to buy new front spring perches send Bert's my old steering arms and let them install new balls.
What about the rear balls on the axle housings. What's the easiest fix for them?

How bad are the perch ball? If it's not a show car use the
dog bone links with the rubber balls.

Bob, i'm not sure if i'm going to show it or not. Either way, when I put this much time and money into something, I don't take short-cuts. They tend to bight me in the ass later.

Here are the dimensions of all of the balls in question, measured diagonally. (+):
Pass / rear shock ball- .730/.700
Driver / rear shock ball-.725/.710
Pass / front perch ball- .733/.728
Drivers / front perch ball- .735/.732
Single steering arm ball- 1.000/.968
Double steering arm balls- .985/.955
.975/.990
