Great keepsakes, MRTEXAS! You'll think of him every time you pick them up, notice them dangling from the dash or feel them in your pocket. Love 'em.

Very nice tags and you are lucky to still have your dad around and able to do nice work.

Very nice work.. I enjoy seeing nice woodworking... Reminds me of my Father who was a Carpenter. Some folks here were lucky enough to have Model A handed down from their Father's. I was lucky enough to be the caretaker of his treasure for my son (his clock now).

Thanks for the post

That clock is absolutely gorgeous. A forever keepsake. Obviously your father was a very talented craftsman! Wayne

P.s. Did he pass his woodworking skills on to you ?

I thought at first the "63 VET" was for "Veteran" and the year I went into the Army, 1963. It took me awhile to reaiize it was 1963 'Vette. So you snuck in a Chevy, but that's OK since it is about your Dad. Cool. Nice work, took a steady hand at 94 !

I think you started something, I couldn't resist sharing these. The top chain is hand carved out of mahogany and is 40' long (one for me and one for each of my two brothers), all of the knives blades are spring loaded, the lock backs work, the pliers and wrench work, the needle nose is carved from one piece of wood.

Really cool. I think we all need something to occupy our time as we get older to keep our minds sharp. I don't think I'll try working with saw blades though, I might lose a finger.

My wife's dad (now 93) has worked with wood all his life. He is constantly coming up with stuff to make for his daughters (3), grandkids (8), and great-grand kids (15). The latest was an M&M dispenser. Don't have any pictures, but I can tell you, they were a big hit this past Christmas. Not because of the "candy" element, but because they were hand made by Papaw.
