Default Worn rear spring perches

My rear spring shackles have worn themselves completely through the bushings and well into to the spring perches on both sides.

Does anyone know how to repair the perches????

Thx.

I have repaired 3 or 4 of the worn shackle housings on rear ends. You need to make sure that the shackle housings are not too far gone to repair for safety reasons. I have never seen one that is, but you never know. First clean the area well, I usually sandblast the inside and outside of the shackle housing. Next I take a 1/2" copper pipe and split it lengthways so it can be enlarged to fit firmly in the shackle bushing hole which is about 5/8" ID. Weld wont stick hard to copper. Then with a MIG welder with gas, I weld up the worn areas. If the copper pipe fits tight, very little dressing down on the inside of the hole is needed. You do need to use a carbide burr cutter to dress down the outside to look nice and if the bushing wont go in the hole after welding, carefully dress the inside down a little with a burr cutter. I assume you know what a carbide burr cutter is.
