E-brake cable connection
Converting my 38 to 39 brakes and stumped on how to fasten tail end of front hand brake cable. Is there a bracket that connects to the wishbone braket on the torque tube?

Re: E-brake cable connection
Is there a trick or tool - that once u pull pin and tighten turn buckle (to tighten hand brake) to get the two cables and pin back together?

Re: E-brake cable connection
With the e-brake handle in the RELEASED position, there should be virtually no tension pulling on the rear cable......otherwise, you'd be engaging the brake shoes. DD

Re: E-brake cable connection
Coopman, your pic makes it pretty clear what I need. Is that a 39 torque tube? Thanks for the response.

Re: E-brake cable connection
The handbrake cable passes first through 2 holes in the centre bracket and then on to that clip.
The 38 chassis did not have those holes in the bracket. |

Re: E-brake cable connection
My '38 was converted when I got it. The hand brake lever/cable still activates the cross shaft (for lack of a better word) that is on the center crossmember and actuated the mechanical brakes. The boomerang-shaped equalizer is attached to the passenger side of that cross-shaft by a rod. Maybe not kosher, but it is very effective. If a picture would help, I'll try to get one.
