Re: Replace head studs when adding new Edelbrock heads?
The Edelbrock thick Race heads compression ratio was also calculated based on the blocks being relieved while the thinner street "S" heads were for non-relieved blocks. I bet that new bolt buster tool will get those studs to come lose. It heats them red hot which is the secret to getting them out without breaking them (usually) Faster than a torch and you are not heating the block up as much. I second the anti-seize on the sides of the studs to prevent the heads sticking to them. Sealant on the bolt and stud threads. Hardened washers on aluminum heads to prevent the nuts from sinking into the aluminum. 50/50 antifreeze to prevent electrolysis from eating your aluminum heads.

Re: Replace head studs when adding new Edelbrock heads?
I use to use a torch to heat the studs. Now I use once of induction heaters/rust busters. Torch set sits in the corner now for this job. The induction heater works so much better.

Hi Tim, I'm curious about the induction heater you use. Do you have a Mfg name or pic? Just curious, that's all and no need for one to remove head studs. Glenn |

Bolt Buster brand. Made in the USA. It has saved me countless times working on our daily drivers. The salt brine they use in NJ turns everything it touches into rust. This tool works safely and quickly to heat up and free any stuck bolt or nut. It comes with 8 different heating elements to fit a wide variety of jobs. Highly recommend it. |
