Default Crestliner Horn Ring Removal

I just picked up a 50 Custom, and it has a crestliner steering wheel, which is pretty nifty. The thin parts of the ring are broken off, but still cool. Honks like a mother effer.

I've searched for a decent while, but noone really has the "yes this is correct" answer on removal.

To remove the horn ring on a crestliner wheel, is it the traditional 3 tab lock style, push-in and turn CCW? The horn pretty much stays near bottom so doesn't feel like a spring is there, and I just want to get some better insight before I snap the ring and someone tells me there was a screw in it from the back of something.

If anyone has a picture of their horn ring removed, that would also be a huge help.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, push down and rotate CCW.

There are two screws holding the ring and the center button can be lifted off. The screws are located at 3 and 9 o,clock with the wheel straight like your picture is. If the horn works I wouldn't remove it. Its not easy to work on. the foam ring is no longer available.

Thanks JT. I saw those on the back of the wheel, which was my primary hesitation from just twisting away. problem is it honks all the time. For what it's worth at the moment, The solenoid is really easy to get to in the engine bay, so i'll add an under-dash horn button for now. Im thinking you're right, that it may be opening up a can of worms just to get it to work, when i have plenty more other more important tasks on the car to complete first.
