Hood ornament
At anytime was the Greyhound radiator cap condoned by Ford for use on 1933 Model 40? Showing in a Concours and wondering if I should put the flat cap on for the show……

Re: Hood ornament
The only genuine ford greyhound accessory was for the model 40 but only in 1934. Any others are later or period aftermarket items, including some recent reproductions. PHIL

Re: Hood ornament
For Early Ford V8 Club Concourse judging, Standard radiator cap ONLY (AND really NOT flat)!!! ALL others would be a "points" deduction.

Re: Hood ornament
There is a pretty decent period(1930's) after market 33 on Ebay [BIN] right now. Named The Murphy Cap by Rupert & Co. No broken tail or paws either. Not listed correctly but pricey. Its a whole lot nicer and better detailed than the the reops of the 80's and later.

Re: Hood ornament
Ford of Canada offered a greyhound hood ornament in its 1936 model year.

Re: Hood ornament
Nice, but no mistaking it for an original given its attached tail, the lack of chest ribs, and lack of paw detail. It also appears to be missing certain male parts.

Re: Hood ornament
I would really like some proof that in 1936 that Ford motor company offered a greyhound mascot. It would not be a radiator cap as the 36 cap is under the hood. I have never ever seen an actual 1935 or 1936 Ford marked or approved mascot in the flesh, all are aftermarket or modern production. HAVE YOU SEEN ONE ? Regards, Kevin.

Re: Hood ornament
koates,
The Ford of Canada sales brochure showing the '36 greyhound on a deluxe fordor and reference to it in the text has been posted numerous times on this site by Don Rogers. I suggest that you do some searching of previous postings on this subject. It is a hood ornament as stated previously, obviously not a radiator cap. Re-read #5. |

Re: Hood ornament
koates,
Please refer to the thread dated March 6, 2018 titled "'36 greyhound??" herein where you were shown the proof and you acknowledged it as genuine Ford documentation. |
