Default 1932 Steering - Ratio Questions???

My buddy and I were looking at some NOS steering sectors that he has - and we compared them to his 32 sector. Many of his parts were NOS stuff that his Uncle collected years ago - but there are no tags or part numbers to help with identification on these.

His original has no markings for ratio, but the NOS ones both have a '15' on them. We also looked at one that had a 13 on it. In doing side-by-side comparisons, it appears his matches the ones with '15' on them.

Was wondering what ratios were used in 32 . . . and if a '15' would be a correct version? His original sector has a few wear spots, so we'll probably swap in a NOS one.

Any information is greatly appreciated!

1932 original ratio is 13:1. I believe 1933-34 ratio was 15:1. I change all my

1932 steering boxes to 15:1 You need to change both worm and sector when changing the ratio.

Any idea as to where one can purchase a new worm to match the NOS sectors that we have? I'd sure like to find a NOS worm - unless somebody knows that there is a quality repop?

Thanks so much!

The first 5,000 '33s also had 13 to 1 ratio steering gears.

In a similar spot as Dale. How much of a noticeable difference does the 15 to 1 ratio make over the '32 13 to 1?

Not worth the effort to find the worm gear and then change it, in my opinion. The sector gear is the easy part.

3rd Gen auto sells 15:1 worm and sector gears. I just bought a set from him to convert my 32 sedan to 15:1. From what I have heard, they are good quality.

Deuce Lover gave me a tip to purchase one - it is on the way. I will report back as to what I find with the quality and fitment to an original 32 box. Thanks gang!
