Default Ridiculous!

I looked at buying some stuff from Speedway.... $50 for the parts, $110 for the shipping to New Zealand. I bought the stuff locally for less than the shipping cost from US. Macs are heading down the same path too. UPS Expidited is their only option.

There was a post not too long ago about a NZ outfit that would load a container with stateside purchases to save everyone those high shipping charges.

Another great option is to give up on all that and ship all your Fords back to the states. I'll take a couple, thanks.

Hey Bassman , I am not sure I can help but I would be happy to try . If having parts shipped to my address and then I could ship them to you would make the shipping affordable , I would be more that willing to do so . Always happy to help fellow Ford Lovers

Totally agree. Wanted $220 odd to ship their water pumps to me.
Got some Drakes from C&G for $113 shipping very reasonable considering the weight.

Probably Kiwi Shipping/ Mainfreight. Steve Curle there is great to deal with. Shipped my 64 1/2 Mustang out of Longbeach CA.

Strange tale but true...I bought a NOS right front fender for a 36/7 one and a half ton truck at the Antique Truck Club of American National Meet in Macungie, PA maybe 10 years ago. I do not own a 1 1/2 ton but could not walk away from the fender, so I bought it. I carried it to meets for a few years and sold it to The Packrat at the Ford and Mercury Restorers Club of America Meet in Belleville, Michigan a few years later for what I paid for it in PA. The fender was shipped to California and put on a sailboat that was being shipped to Australia aboard a ship. The fender was unloaded in Australia and forwarded to the buyer in New Zealand.

Interesting story, but the lesson I take from it is to never buy a fender I don't need.

Bass ,I recently bought just a few small parts from Carpenter for my 51 truck ,the parts $90, shipping about $38 but the bit that hurts is the u.k taxes of 20%of the combined purchase plus shipping cost ourpost office charged me £13.50 to collect the tax for the government (was £8,a sudden increase ) an expensive hobby over here and I guess over there also...but we love it , cheers JIM.

No Goods and Service Tax (GST) on vintage car parts here, there's an exemption but you might get stung customs duty if its total value is over $300 but sometimes they don't bother because its more expensive to collect the duty.

Can't say I agree with that....its only expensive for me when I pay the duty!

Mike51Merc...If people like me did not buy things over the years we did not need, many people these days would be unable to find parts at all.

Well, if it was for sale then somebody would have bought it. My point is that in the end you lost money.

Not really, if someone does not but it then it normally ends up in a rubbish dump and lost forever. Strange this is they would rather pay to dump it than to sell it sometimes...
