Default 36 radiator cap question

My 36 has an original type brass radiator, which currently has a chrome or nickel plated cap with a paper type gasket (which leaks steam readily), and an overflow tube from the upper front center of the radiator which appears to be open to atmosphere. Did the 36 originally come with a pressurized type cap? If this setup is all original I don't see how it could build pressure with the overflow tube that it has. So Ford thought it OK to run a system that boiled at 212 degrees? Do people change this setup to run low pressure caps?
Thanks!
Pat

The '36 is a non-pressurized system. Some people have added an aftermarket pressure valve to the end of the overflow tube, designed by Skip Haney in Florida. I don't know if those are still available, but I also have never seen the benefit of it. Others have had better experiences.
