Default '42 Flatheads in International Pickup

I was talking to a guy with a '42 International pickup and he was told that the drivetrain was all Ford from the factory, has anyone heard of this? He said it had to do with the war and Canada had sent everything to the UK.

Sounds like an urban legend to me.

The K-series IH trucks had flathead 6-cylinder "Green Diamond" engines. I think the prewar light duty K series or K1/K2 would have had a 175 CID L6 but may also have had a 214 CID L6. IH was a very independent company and made a lot of their own components. My Grand Dad had IH 6-speed specials dating to the late 20s & early 30s and they had international engines as well (wrong about that, they had a Waukesha XA 4-banger engine but they did have large IH casting marks). Axles & transmissions may have been farmed out to some extent depending on the size & weight rating but not the engines.

Ron's 47 would be the KB series post war IH truck. It likely had a 214 L6 when it was new.

Looks like they made their own engines. Could be that the Ford was an easy replacement.
