Armored cable - what's inside?
I'm trying to restore an armored cable for my ´29 model A, that I found at a market. I try to follow Les Andrews´method and have opened up the end that goes into the switch.
Inside the armored cable I expected to find just a cable, but there is also a spiral spring from the plunger, I don't know how far it goes, maybe the whole length of the cable. Les writes "pull out the cable far enough to cut the wire". I'm not able to pull out more than 1/4 inch because the wire is connected at the distributor end and I can see the spring in that end moving when I pull. Also, the spiral inside the armored cable is in the way is in the way. The drawing I found in jmodela/coffecup is not detailed enough so I can understand these details. So what should be inside the armored cable? |
