Default Floor Boards

Found a pattern online and was able to get all new boards done up. Very few modifications needed. Thankfully I had a master carpenter helping me out. Thanks for all of your help and advise so far. Just a little at a time.

Made a set for my 29 AA a few years ago using the sliding dovetails. Heck of a lot of work to get it all set up. Worth it as they turned out rather nice. Finding a router bit with the right profile was a challenge. Now I keep the bit safely tucked away for the next car....

Dekburg - Yours look great! Keep at it you'll get it on the road before you know it.

Linderman Construction.

You say you have a source for the right bit? Curious (and tool obsessed) minds want to know.

Dave is right about the router bit being hard to find and the boards being a bit of work to duplicate. I found my router bit at a used tool store, so I don't know where one could buy a new one.

I found a dovetail router bit that was close to being correct (a little to wide at the bottom, but had the correct dovetail angle) and I had a machine shop remove a little of the bottom that was too wide. It turn out perfect and worked well when making the curtain tray door for my 29 phaeton.

Not only do the original boards vary in width, but the same board often varies in width from one end of the board to the other end. This was done to be able to use as much of each log as possible. The blueprints call for no edge knots and no through knots. I bought my Maple boards at Menards, and they are the correct thickness.
