Tim to sell the old girl
Hey all,
I bought mY 1928 of an old friend who was dying of cancer and did it as a favor. Although I like old cars my real love are 1950-60s cars. Although I got bit by the bug for a short time and bought a number of parts I never got into it to really add to the car's history except to drive it around a bit. It is time for me to pass on the old girl to someone who can show her the attention that she deserves. I saw some old posts that said there are classifieds on the forum but I simply can't find them. I will, of course, place on Hemmings and others but I was wondering if there was a way to sell here. Thanks to all if you can point me in the right direction, Thanks, p.s. thanks to all who provided me input and help over the past couple years, it truly was fun and rewarding.

Top of the page “The Swap Meet”. Then click on the proper “Model A for sale”. Post away.

Re: Tim to sell the old girl
I have had great success selling my cars through WeBeAutos.com They handle the advertising, qualify buyers, accept the payment help arrange pick-up or shipping and quickly wire you your funds. There fee was 5% and if you sell it on your own no fee.
Mike Runnels is the owner of the service. Worth checking into with all the BSer's out there. Both of the sales I made through them were painless. Chap |

Re: Tim to sell the old girl
first advertise here + MARC/MAFCA ads if you are a member.
Hemmings ads are not cheap, but worked when I sold our 37 Plymouth and 35 Chevy.

Re: Tim to sell the old girl
Someone told me that FaceBook has a 'For Sale' application and I think it is free.
I am not on FB so sorry don't know the details, but a friend that is into bicycles buys and sells there all the time and has good luck with that venue. That might be one thing to check out too. |

Tim
I stopped in Albuquerque a few days ago to load up Jay Hertz’s beautiful 1934 Ford Phaeton There is a very active local Model T group that also has some Model A members. Jim

Re: Tim to sell the old girl
Facebook ads are free, and I use them for certain things,
but you are going to get a lot of spammers and lowballers from those postings. Stick with the Model A Club sites and Hemmings to reach your target audience, especially if you do not want to see the car chopped and rodded.......

Re: Tim to sell the old girl
Yes, Facebook market place is very active. I think it may be more localized but is still a venue. I have sold some car parts on there very quickly. Usually get replies within hours of a posting.

Re: Tim to sell the old girl
The two avenues of sales are Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist.
Craigslist I believe now charges $5 for cars. The number of people viewing the ad is huge plus with facebook they target the ad. So someone who has been looking for Model A may just see your ad pop up. While facebook may not be your in thing, if you are buying and selling and you are not on Facebook you are losing out. |

Re: Tim to sell the old girl
Kevin is 100% correct. I have advertised many items on Craigslist concurrent with Facebook and sold many times more on Facebook. I do admit I don't care for the general "conversation" on Facebook but you can control that.
