Default Windshield broken, bummer, but ultimately good news

I broke my windshield, but realized it's not laminated! So I removed screws and pulled the top off. Now, how do I proceed? If the glass is supposed to slide out, then I guess just break it and pick out pieces? Tia

spray a little soapy water around it on the rubber.

I tap it apart with a rubber hub cap mallet. Wear gloves and eyeball protection. Put in ur case breaking it maybe better

Soak the 3 screws on each end with Kroil, then use a GOOD screwdriver to remove them.
I use a wood 2 X 4 and hammer to tap the top up and off.
Then proceed as Mitch said with a rubber mallet and gloves and eye protection.

Awhile ago, while installing some new too long screws into the windshield frame of the 31' Tudor, we cranked it shut and cracked the windshield in the upper corner. After blaming the neighbor who was trying to help, the spider-web pattern crack got covered up with some black electrical tape. It was a stroke of genius and another quick rustic fix carried out perfectly! Thus far, the old 1942 dated busted windshield glass has not had the crack fan out.

Meanwhile, quietly tucked away out in the garage in it's carton is a new replacement windshield. For $140 bucks, shipping included, a brand new one was acquired via eBay. The Connecticut auto glass seller offers two styles of Model A Ford windshields with one being plain and the other tinted.

I recently had my windshield glass replaced by a local glass company. I could not remove the glass from the frame so that is the reason I had the job done. The only draw back to the process was that it took about three weeks for them to do the job, because they had to order it first. Upon the installation of the glass they cracked it so had to order another. Second try they cracked so had to order another. No cracks on the third try BUT I haven't installed it in the car yet. Crossing my fingers I do it with no problems. Total cost for glass and installation was $150.00. Don't think they made any money.

Back in 1969, I had my local Safelight guy cut glass for my '29 A Coupe. He had to do three windshields before he cut one that didn't crack. Very difficult cutting that lower concave curve, then smoothing it on a water-cooled belt sander. Don't remember how much it cost, but it was quite affordable for a college student who had a part-time job.
