Penske car trailer
I plan to haul my '30 coupe on a Penske car trailer. I've used these before with other cars and have been very happy. However, this time I'm getting some push back because of the 19 inch tires on the coupe. Has anyone had this problem? Do the trailer straps fit over the tires?

Re: Penske car trailer
They should. If AAA can haul an A with 19" wheels w/straps they should be able to/JMO

Re: Penske car trailer
I have hauled my Model A on a U-haul with tire straps, also hauled my '67 jeep with 15 inch on the same trailer, strap slipped off my jeep not my Model A. It's really about the total diameter of the wheel and tire, not just the wheel diameter.

Re: Penske car trailer
We trailered the '29 Coupe from upper MI to De with a U-Haul trailer. I have 21" tires, the straps fit (tight), but I made a point to stop often to check over-all.. hitch, safety chains, tire straps, and hold down ratchet-type straps and lights, to ensure a secure/safe tow. Good experience.! kb

Re: Penske car trailer
I suggest using additional ratchet straps on the axels to the trailer frame.

Re: Penske car trailer
19 is not that big-you will be fine and the tires are obviously narrow.

Re: Penske car trailer
#8 has it right...strap that thing 6 ways from Sunday with tie downs and ratchet straps. Don't count on the wheel straps as your number 1 containment system. This might be a case of too much is just enough.
Check the load often and enjoy a safe trip. |

Re: Penske car trailer
Ratchet straps are cheap insurance. Be sure to cross either the front or the rear straps.

Re: Penske car trailer
I brought my Model A Coupe home to Florida from Texas on a UHaul trailer and the ratchet straps went over the tires ok. Never had a problem with it. I would make a recommendation to you. If you are hauling a open car trailer with your car, I would tape cardboard over the radiator, headlights and front window area to ensure nothing gets broken from flying rocks. By the way my car is a 1930 Model A Coupe also with 19-inch wheels. Hugh
