Can anyone explain how to replaced the oblong covers over the door locks and especially the trunk??

On the backside of the trunk lock, you should see a spring wound around the cover shaft housing and the end of that spring is caught in a perch at the back of the shaft. If I remember right, you can pop that spring out of the catch which allows the cover to slide out of the shaft. Be careful not to lose the spring. I would think the door locks are basically similar.
