Re: Running Board Paint
Were the original boards from the factory primered with a color other then black before the paint?
Just wondering for use on my truck when the time comes... some of my parts are a little worn so I wouldnt mind if it rubbed through... just so the underneath looked like it would have when original....

Re: Running Board Paint
Re: kids. I have a 1929 AA/Cretors popcorn truck and kids jumping on running boards and sliding down my fenders is routine. It's not just the kids, but adults also that like to use my truck as their "table" and sit their drinks and food on all parts of it. I usually go outside and pick up what ever was placed on the truck and ask them if it's theirs. They get the idea. If they get huffy I just ask them to buy it for $100k and that they can do with it as they please. At least the kids listen and understand about the paint after you explain it to them. Now the adults, you would believe, would already know that.
My truck is painted with a DuPont (Centurian??) product and it's as brittle as a piece of thin glaze. It's the running boards that take such a hit. I've been using "One Shot" for touch ups and it works really good for that purpose. At the end of the season I can go back and provide more attention to the nicks and dings and apply more paint to those areas and then color sand and polish. I wouldn't use the DuPont stuff again on a bet. It was good to hear about other paints. |

Re: Running Board Paint
I had the running boards on my '31 Pickup powder coated and 7 years and 6,000 miles later, no scratches on the powder coat...and my car has seen more than it's fair share of gravel (and hail, and snow, and rain, and children, and ice cream...)

Re: Running Board Paint
RE Kids, and adults who are worse: Took my A speedster to lunch with friends and look out the window and some kid is inside, working the steering wheel and gear shift, and Mom is taking pictures! She told me he just looked so cute in that old car!!
