Default I'm Amazed

Hello, I'm new to The Barn. I've been browsing the threads and am absolutely amazed at the depth and detail.

Now, I'm just a teacher. I don't have the money to restore my cars. I just drive and fix them. I checked this place out because I wanted to diagnose the oil leak in the '31 pickup I just acquired from my brother. Again, amazing. It's like having a mechanic living right next door.

After reading a bunch of threads about everything from shocks to distributors I'm also amazed that my car ('28 Coupe) and I are still alive and running. I've driven the car about 25,000 miles over the last 23 years and the only resources I've had to guide me are an old book and my dad's memories. Both a little smudged. I thought I'd learned a lot about Model A maintenance over those years, but I had no idea how much knowledge there is out there.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that .

Thanks, I tried to attach two pics, one of each A, but the second file failed to upload after several attempts. Sorry.

Adjust the size of the photo and it should upload without any trouble. Orrrrr, once again I may be wrong.

Again, thanks for the welcome. I have two Model A's that I drive regularly so I'll definitely be mining this site for advice.

Dad is getting old and I really don't think I'll be wanting to make an axle shim from a Prince Albert can as Grandad did. It's good to know there is still so much great first-hand knowledge out there.

Yeah, about the teacher thing. Love my job, currently teaching math to expelled HS students, it just doesn't pay enough to allow me to "restore" my cars. One of the things I've loved about driving my coupe has been that I can figure out most things, do the work myself, and the parts have been cheap.
