It’s a 1930 Model A Deluxe Roadster.
It has a ‘32 B engine in it, 12 volts, FSI ignition, Webber carburetor, 4-into-1 Header, Red’s Smithy's Muffler.

When I accelerate under load, it makes a loud banging noise in the engine compartment. This happens especially under full throttle. If I let off the acceleration, it stops, but as soon as I put it on full throttle under load, like on a hill, it makes the banging noise. Please listen and watch my video, and let me know what it is. Thank you very much as this has been going on for years now.

Note, it doesn’t seem to affect the acceleration. It’s just a noise.

I'm thinking either transmission or U joint.

Kind of hard to tell in the video but sort of sounds like pre-ignition to me. You say it has FSI ignition. Have you checked the timing? If not that then something is loose.

Had a rattle like that and it was the starter bendix rubbing against the flywheel.

The noise has the aspect of an ignition problem, too much spark advance.

Also check that the three starter mounting bolts are the correct length, if they are too long, they can rub the flywheel. 3/8-16 X1"

Classic pre ignition. Too much advance

Pre ignition……. STOP driving until you find and fix… could be timing issues ( that’s what is nice about original, just retard the timing with the hand lever), could be wrong/to hot of spark plugs, could be a hot spot in the combustion chamber such as carbon buildup, could be a very lean fuel mixture. Remove the spark plugs and check them would be the first thing that I would do, search the Internet for reading spark plugs, too much information to post here.

Sounds like mine under load when not warmed up yet
Hasn’t hurt anything yet, had it all apart this past winter and found nothing out of the ordinary, put it back together and it still makes the noise
Beginning to wonder if it’s moisture related, bottom of intake has a lot moisture dripping off the bottom
Seems to go away once it’s up to temperature
