The first run was 150 and they went in a flash. I'm sure the 800 will find homes quite easily now that there are a few out there running around and developing a great reputation. More accessories are available for them (like heads, oil pumps etc) too, which adds to the attraction IMO.
I have one of the 150 and I'm impressed I wanted something with a bullet proof bottom end for my long distance towing. These are the "Holy Grail" with plenty of strength built in to handle nearly anything an owner might want to do to it to get more power out of it.
All of that said, I have never seen a Shay and don't care if it stays that way.

A lot of seniors who collect need a easy to drive model a, there is a lot health wise that can stop a guy from enjoying a car that takes both hands and both feet to drive, the model a Shay is a way for that old friend in the club to enjoy his remaining time with friends… I understand why mafca would make the change. It’s more then just the cars. It’s people. that club has got to be 75% over 55-65? I will not bash it.

The SHAY was made because of the love of the MODEL A FORD. I have no problem with them or any custom either. How many people have a glass fender or deck lid on a driver. Lighten up

Then they should change their mission statement. See post #13.

IIRC, the original licensing agreement between Ford and Shay dictated that no part on the shay could be dimensionally identical to any Model A Ford part; meaning that no part of a Shay could be interchangeable with any Model A part. Quite literally by design and contract the Shay was designed and built to NOT be a Model A.
