Default Repro verses original pickup bed

Has anyone don't a fairly through comparison between the repro pickup beds Brookville manufactures and an original bed. I am wondering if they are really an exact copy or like most repro sheetmetal parts, leaves something to be desired - i.e. not crisp stamping, welded joints where Ford used rivets, etc.

Can't answer your question in that detail but can make a comment......
Not sure anyone today can recreate exactly how it was made back in the day.
So if you are going for pure....get an original in the best condition possible you can find.
From what I have seen of the Brookville box though.....IMHO, they are pretty nice.

I have both Brookville and original. Have not compared the two other than the stake pocket pieces do not have the extra holes punched where rivets are not used. Have not checked if that has been changed since mine was made.

the rivet ends are not rounded like the originals...they are just peened until the neck swells. If you want it to look exact, you will want to heat and re- set them with a rounded buck and set. I also noticed they do not come with the tail light bolt holes, so you will want to drill those before you paint. There are not as many fender bolt holes in the fender to bed spacer than original. The bed strips have smashed ends rather than neatly rounded ends like an original. As mentioned above, the stake pockets lack the holes. Other than that, they do look good enough for anything but fine point judging. You might even fool some fine point judges, but not all, if you get the rivets right.
