37 heater Question
I. realize that heaters were a non Ford option in 1937. Can anyone shed some light on the difference or similarities between the 60 or 85 hp heaters?
My open car originally had a heater and I would like to have one. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks |

Re: 37 heater Question
Sorry to disagree, but if you check the original literature and the Early Ford V8 Club book on '37's, you will find that there was an optional heater for 1937 Fords from the factory. It included defroster vents as well.

Re: 37 heater Question
Get the EFV8 club's 1937 book.
Almost all will be revealed. Last edited by swoopNZ; 11-20-2017 at 12:07 PM. |

Re: 37 heater Question
Hot air heater was an option in 1937. Hot water was not. Look in the Early Ford V8 club book for 1937. It will show you all the factory hot air heater options!

Re: 37 heater Question
The three most important (and difficult to find) parts of the '37 hot air heater (heat exchange manifold, muffler inlet pipe, and crossover pipe) were unique for each application (60 and 85 HP).

Re: 37 heater Question
My '36 Ford coupe has a '39 Ford hot water heater, it was in the car when I bought it in 1952. The heater fits perfectly on the passenger side of the firewall, plenty of foot room.
The heater has a provision for defrosters, with a slide valve on the upper right side of the unit. I know the 39 hot water heater is not correct for a show quality car, however, it is much more efficient and easier to install. I have attached a couple of pix of the heater in my car.

Re: 37 heater Question
Here are some photos of the installation instructions for the genuine hot air heater for 1937 and 1938 Ford cars. Also the defroster. These are all the photos I could dig up right now from a heater I had purchased from the obsolete stock of a Ford dealership.
