Default Pulling Torque Tube front bearing sleeve

FYI, I just pulled my torque tube sleeve so I could get the seal out. I found a vidio on YouTube so I had a clue. The tool is just a piece of pipe with a bit of 1/4" all thread welded on. The thing need to be just small enough to go in. I was expecting problems but it actually pulled the sleeve on the first try. You just put it in and twist and pull.
The seal was beat out with a piece of conduit put in from the differential end.

I made one. What an amazing simple tool. It works well to put the sleave back in too.

I use a piece of 3/4" pipe about 5' long. i inserted the pipe into the TT and through the TT center beating and when it got to the seal, I let it rest against the side of the seal. I struck the end of the pipe and drove out the seal.

I made up a long rod using 1/2" all thread. Machined a stepped diameter aluminum pusher plug that threads on the end of the all thread. This is used on torque tubes w/o center bearings. The pusher plug fits into the seal ID, and the outer step diameter pushes against the back of the seal. The long rod with pusher plug attached goes into the back/flanged end of the torque tube. Once the plug is in place, a few good raps on the end of the all thread will bring the seal and bear sleeve out together. I usually reuse these old original bearing sleeves because in most cases they are far better in quality than many of the repros being sold today.

For you non-welders (like me) the tool can be made by drilling a hole in the pipe and installing a short piece of bolt. The handle on the other end helps torque it when using the tool. This is the one I made for the job. Worked great.
