Default Know what these are?

I bought a 40 sedan and among the parts were these. I know that they are at least part of the grill side panels with added pieces that appear to have been cut away for some reason. Were they original to something?

Outer grill plates, directs air through the radiator core. 91a-8104 ford part number. Looks like a extension has been added?

Ok, the frame is a V8 60 frame so that would make sense.

Yes, definitely original. People throw stuff like that away and then can't figure out why the motor runs hot.

I'm guessing the added parts were to insure the air flow went directly into the radiator

The extra metal does not appear to have been added, but maybe so. Did a V8 60 radiator mount farther back than an 85 horse?

I have a pair just like that too. I was pretty sure they were 39-40, but not positive of the reason behind the extra panels. I wasn't sure if Ford had a straight 6 in 39-40....was kinda thinking they might be for that. But a 60HP seems more feasable.

Of course, finding the guy with a 60HP in a 40 that needs them is gonna be tough. Probably makes more sense to just cut the extra part off and use them on a big V8.

Since the frame I will be selling is a 40 with V8 60 mounts and the tube axle, someone may have a desire to restore them to use, so I will save them.
