As far as I know, all 40-47 p-ups had floor shifts - I could be wrong. However ....

Swapping to a column shift would require swapping the trannies to go to a side shifter. For 40-41 p-ups you would need a 40 car column and any side shift tranny from 40 on up to 47. 42-47 trucks had a different frame and I'm not sure what column shift is required for this mod.

I've seen your ad - more than likely this person is wanting the car column and is thinking that perhaps the trucks had an "option" for one or the other?

I am sure he wants a truck column. He thinks it was an option. I offered the car column to him and he said he wants the truck column for the additional drop. He said he knows of a couple of trucks with column shift. I am not an expert on the trucks and have no clue. I suspect his examples have F-1 columns in them.

F-1 column would require a different steering linkage set up would it not? Side shaft thru the frame vs a cross steering set up. Also the length of the F-1 column would be shorter than a car column I believe. I have a F-1 column sitting next to a 41 Car column and it is shorter by about 3 inches.
He might also have to do some foot well mods so the side shift linkage clears.

Everyone wants a top loader and this guy wants to switch. Go figure!
