Default New parts suggestion’s for 1951 ford custom v8

I made a post a few weeks ago about some issues I’ve been having and got a lot of great responses and I’m still not 100% sure what the issues are but based on what people said I wanted to start with getting a new ignition coil and condenser and maybe spark plugs so I was hoping some of yall with more experience with these cars can recommend some good parts I should get. If anyone wants to look at my original post about the problems I’m trying to solve the thread is called “1951 ford, runs good then bad”

I did find what I needed on the website called “shoeboxcentral.com” but they don’t have much information on the product so don’t want to buy if there might be a better option.

I’m also trying to patch the front floor pans and don’t really see any that fit my car so if anyone knows what fits a 1951 ford custom 4 door that would be helpful too.

I also have an electric fuel pump that the owner before me put on it and just disconnected all the mechanical fuel pump but still has in attached to the car so I am considering trying to use it but does anyone know if the mechanical pump is problematic or if I should keep using the electric fuel pump.

The mechanical pump will work fine so long as it's new and has a good diaphragm. When you remove the old pump check to make sure the fuel pump push rod is still in place, otherwise the pump won't pump. Also, make sure to replace the old flexible firewall fuel line shown here:

Some folks use an electric pump in combination with the stock mechanical pump. Do a Fordbarn search for more info.

Finally, make sure you use a brand new fuel filter and make sure your gas tank is not rusting on the inside. That will cause fuel flow problems. Blow the fuel line out with air hose.
