The proble with this type of filter is that is dumps the oil on the timing gear and not into the valve chamber

Are you saying that the 90 degree filter can deprive the valves of oil in some fashion? The thru the cover filter pipe does fit into the front oil passage by design, but the filter dumps it back into the chamber thru the other cover hole. Also, could the later lowered oil pan and pan shield coupled with the filter also contribute to an oil distribution issue ?

Correct me if I'm wrong, I believe that this is a bypass filter and only filters part of the oil, so there is still a lot of oil going to the valve chamber via the original passages.
