Americans, South Dakota, 1938
Every minute of the amateur films of Ivan Besse is well worth watching.
Do you recognize the cars and trucks? That is the easy part. Do you recognize the people? Only in memories, or are any of this type still around? I wonder. The Model A towing the Model T is priceless... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oars1CJtg0M http://archive.org/details/sIvanBes1938_2 |

Re: Americans, South Dakota, 1938
a lot of nostalgic pictures of 1930s small-town America that many people nowadays find magnetic due to the apparent innocence and simplicity of the era. But the country was in a depression and a world war was a year away, three years away for us. it would be wonderful to go back and visit but I'm not sure I would want to stay.
