Default Leaners...You guys hate leaners...?

What is it with some people.. Leaners.. Is it just me? I try not let it get to me.. But I dont like people leaning on my car.. One of the other cars I have is real nice 56 Fairlane, drives me mental ! My brother is a leaner, puts his paws all over my cars when hes in my garage. When I take my car out on club runs , members come up and talk ...And the lean on my car.. AGHHH! I probably wouldn't have a problem if it was a chicky-babe in a bikini [no buckles] So Im not that much of a grump! ..

Leaners why ??!

TW,
They think it's just an old car...what's the big deal...don't mess with their
stuff though.
I walked to my '35 sedan at a local show and lo and behold a kid was
jumping up and down on the running board and his sticky fingers were grabbing
the partially wound down window. I hollered at him and the indignant father informed
his son was just experiencing and old car.

I once had a nice Silver Shadow II. Took it to a car show, and parked next to a '57 Chev Belair hardtop. People would come by and look but not touch the Chevy and lean on my Rolls. I would tell them to lean on the cheap Chevy and get the hell off my Rolls. Never took it to another car show.

One of our memebers has a sunliner, nice car. He gets so wound up wherever its parked people just lean all over it, trying to take photos etc. On one club run he said to me he just caught an older gent pulling his rear aireals up and down explaining to his grand kids how they go .. WTF! Later he caught a lady leaning or sitting on it for a photo ..holy cow so close to a punch up ..!

I see a lot of "Look but don't touch" signs at a lot of shows. I wonder if people can still read these days.

I got some "No Step" signs for my running boards. Guess they help (if I remember to put them out).

I was at a local saw mill, it is steam powered, they have a show there 4 times a year. I had my 36 pickup there with a old gas engine in the back. I was looking around and saw some guy opened the door and was sticking his head inside, what the hell! I say to the guy is that your truck? he says no, I said it's my truck and please don't touch it and close the door!

I have an older plastic Chevy. I took the body off it and did the entire chassis refurbishment thing. Body went on without having been washed since 1969. Everybody asks me if I'm going to paint it. "No way," I always reply. It's OK if it gets touched or has a drip of ice cream fall on a fender. I talk to other guys at car shows and they tell me that they have a similar car that has perfect paint on it but they're afraid to take it out of the garage because it might get a smudge or scratch on it.

It comes down to the simple concept of respecting other people’s property. Look but don’t touch applies to many things, not just cars.

We used to call the guys who would show up at the shop "leaners".
They would lean aganst the fridge and tell you how to build your car and all the things that they would do differently.

Torchie.
Similar story. A couple buddies used to run a foreign car repair shop, and after work guys would show up to bench race and enjoy a few cold beverages. One jerk in particular would plant his butt against some customer's 'benz or BMW and get pissy when one of us gave him heck for doing it. Then when telling us all the things he'd do differently (this guy's a salesman, not a mechanic), it seems the standard opening line was "all ya gotta do is". To this day, that phrase is a time honored joke. Stu

Went to a show with my 37 pick up and I had finally gotten the headlights set the way I wanted. Some little kid comes up and grabs the right headlight and twists it to the side. I could have killed him-parents said nothing and I was so startled I said nothing. I could not believe what he did and I saw.

You mean like this?

I don't know the guy leaning on my truck.

In the spirit of the bikini comment here's what one person does:
