Default Front Seat 1931 Top Tack Strip Info Request

Top of front seat has a channel for a tack strip. Any suggestions on how to install a new plastic tack strip into the metal channel ? I tried opening one of the crimped ends and drawing it through. Didn't get far. I don't want to distort the channel too much to get this insert in place. Thanks for any assistance

Hello, if this is a roadster you are talking about, usually the metal with rope like strip in between is replaced with a wood tack strip. It’s made as a 3 piece part so they can ship it I guess, two small end pieces and a larger center part .

Thanks for your reply ...I should have noted this is for a 31 slant window. ..on top of the back of the front seat a metal channel is bolted to the seat. The material in this U-shaped channel is gone ..was used as a tacking media. I thought this plastic strip I bought goes in the channel ...maybe not perhaps remove the metal channel and bolt this plastic material in place instead...lots of fun sorting this out

Sorry I can’t help, hopefully another sedan owner can help, Ford must have used a similar setup for upholstery on closed cars

The guy that did my Slant upholstery actually used old fan belts instead of the plastic stuff he just hammered it into the channel. Maybe the plastic goes in the same way.

Thanks ..Will let you know how it comes together...The right fanbelt size and material may work as well
