Default LED Third brake light !!

Seriously thinking of a third brake light in my rear window of my roadster, the one that Brattons sells (10 led strip light). I have some logolite LED lights coming soon and notice they are just one wire I notice the brake light from Brattons has more than one Can I run just one wire from it to the outgoing side of my brake light switch to the third brake or is their more involved. Appreciate the input..... thanks Dutie

I used a repop tail/brake light and fastened it to the back of the trunk. The picture shows the light on the spare tire, I moved it because the wires were interfering with the spare. I just tapped into the existing tail and stop wires and ran a separate ground wire. My set-up uses regular 6 volt bulbs

More than likely, you will need to run the one wire to your brake light switch and the other one to a ground. Your Logo Lights are probably just grounded thru their mounting brackets.

These LED strips that hook to the back window have a provision so that you can connect them to turn signals. When using them to turn the left half will flash for a left turn, the right half will flash for a right turn. If you do not have turn signals the two separate wires used for the turn indication are connected together. Information should come with the unit.

Lamps, led or bulb, will always need two connections (wires) to let them light up !

I have a third brake light strip in the back window of our '31 Chrysler sedan but could not find a suitable place to install one in our '31roadster. Ended up installing Snyder LED replacement bulbs and reflectors in the standard Model A tail light housings. They are very bright, brighter than the strip lights by far and you cannot tell them from the originals. The directional signals also are bright and function well.

Hi fellas, Finished my LED third brakelight today in the rear window. When its activated along with the two LED brakelights gives plenty of red in your face. If I combine it with my new 4 way LED signals will look like the eagle had landed. Quality stuff from Snyders, have it in just 2 days. Thanks again fellas for the replies. Dutie

Dutie,

Did you tie the Logolites into the third brake light for turn signals? I'm considering the same setup.

Hi w.michael, No I did not, the logolytes are completely separate. I just wanted them to work with the brake lights only. The third brake I went off my brake switch and a close bye ground. No more wondering if they see you now. Good luck Dutie

When I added m third brake light I also installed a Rapid Flash Brake Light Module similar to this one. It flashes ~6 times rapidly then stays solid. A real attention getter. 12v only. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brake-Attent...item5afc761a9e

LED turn signals like I want to make don't seem to exist, so I bought this 6 to 12 volt converter on ebay a few weeks ago. The guy is sold out and the only similar priced converters I can find are all 12 to 24 volt.

Russ, that's a really great idea with the middle light strapped to the top of the spare tire !

Did you make the mount from scratch, or use the mount for sidemount spare tire for the basis ?

Thanks for sharing !

Special Coupe Frank #21 My #3 son makes medieval armor, he knocked out the mount in short order from templates that I made. I can take and post photos and measurements if someone would want.

I had mine fastened with belts to the spare tire, but it kept moving due to road vibration. I moved it to the back of the trunk top, fastened it with screws and now it stays put. When the trunk is opened it moves with the trunk top so no problem. Also, the wire does not go through the spare tire spokes now.

Frank post #25 I finally got a few moments to get out to the garage and take some photos. In the last photo the red wire goes to ground on the body, the other 2 wires are soldered together and connect into the right hand brake light wire. The radius's on the vertical were made with a tuna can. The belts were $4 at Wally's. Russ

If it moves around like in post #25 you could glue cork or rubber to the bracket? to keep it in place.

I snugged it up nice and tight with velcro and covered that up with leather belts.

I didn't want to mount a light bar in my coupe roll-down rear window. It would annoy rumble seat passengers especially at night. I opted to mount it behind the spare tire and wire it through the rumble lid. It's hardly noticeable until it lights up.

I did one years ago on a 30 with a trailer light and rubber grommet.I took the hubcap off the spare, and it fit that open hole like it was made for it.I don't remember what brand light and grommet it was,but at the time I was using Grote, Peterson and Optronics on trailers I was building. The 2 wire connector just plugged into the back of the lamp module.

Here's mine. Tractor Supply LED. Homemade bracket clamps to spokes with two wing nuts and wired with bullet connectors for quick removal. Installed with flasher That flashes LED for 5 seconds then goes to full on without flashing. Really gets your attention.

I don't think you can wire the 3rd brake/turn light into the LogoLites controller. Their controller and LEDs use low voltage and current - fuse is only 1 amp. That's less than 1/4 amp per light if you've got the flashers on. Their lights only have 1 wire because the 2nd wire is the car itself.

Their website notes: DO NOT CONNECT TYPE 23 SIGNAL LIGHTS TO 6V OR 12V BATTERY! DOING SO CAN DESTROY THE LED LIGHT BAR!

I have the Snyders 3rd brake light in the rear window of my Fordor. It is hooked to the brake and turn indicators. When braking and indicating a turn, one side stays on and the other side flashes. One major advantage not mentioned so far is that I can check to see if my brake light switch and turn indicator switch are working by looking in the rear view mirror. Enough light gets reflected to indicate that things are OK.
