Default What are these 34 Cab floor holes for?

Been wondering about these holes in floor of my 34 cab. They are behind seat riser. The two holes circled in red appear to have a reinforcement plate. The three circled in yellow are rectangular holes that have a tab that points to the ground.

I am planning to replace the underseat plywood you see part of in the picture with a steel and may make it large enough to extent to back of cab as well.

What body style is your cab? I assume it's a regular closed cab with 2 doors? Is your picture on the right hand side or left hand side of the cab?
Trucks often received lots of post-production modifications but maybe these are original.

The rectangular holes are for the 3 wooden boards that the seat back hangs on. Round holes are bolts to the frame. Are you planning to use an original style seat?

The rectangular holes are for the wood that the seat back goes against. The reinforced holes are where the cab bolted to the frame. Cab mounts were different locations between pickup and 1-1/2 ton cab.

Yes closed cab. Closeup picture is of passenger side.

That makes sense but the cab wood I removed didn’t extend to those 3 holes. They must have been cut off or rotted off. And those round holes didn’t have any bolts in them when I got the truck but will add bolts.

The only part of the original seat I have is the seat riser minus the part of the riser that is the back piece that bolts on or was riveted on. I am currently building a seat bottom ( plywood with 2 holes cutout, Elasbelt weaved over holes, then foam, Dacron, and then fabric) that is same size and shape as riser but with some sort of spacer along the front to raise the front of seat cushion about an inch or so. Probably 1” square tubing attached to front edge of original riser. Also planning to make a support bracing for middle of seat bottom (from to back) and bracing along back edge of seat bottom that essentially will take the place of missing back panel of original riser.

I checked yesterday and the reinforced holes in the cab don’t have corresponding holes in the frame rail or crossmember.

Thanks all. Yes pictures help a bunch. Could I get a picture of the end of one of the three vertical pieces where it goes into or touches cab floor?

34pickup, what type of seat do you have in your pickup? Original or custom?

I am wondering how I might attach a homemade seat back to existing wooden cab structure?

So I have a follow up question on those 3 vertical support that go into the holes in cab floor? Do they extend through the hole and the end of it rest on the frame rail? Or just extend into hole just below hole opening? Or tapered on the end to wedge fit into hole?

Thanks.

Mine extend into hole 3/4", just enough to get a wood screw through the tab so they don't rattle.

Now that makes a lot of sense. I’ve not noticed there was a hole in the tab below the floor. Thank you.
