Default iPhone holder for Roadster or Phaeton?

If you have a Roadster or Phaeton have you found a way to attach an iPhone without drilling any holes?
The bracket sold by Snyder’s is for closed cars. The Roadster interior sheet metal at the base of the windshield is different (no channel to send air to the floor).
I tried a suction cup vacuum mount but it lets go at odd intervals and leaves round marks on the paint. The round marks can be cleaned off but that paint is 65 years old already. Also tried neodymium rare-earth magnets to stick to both the dash (with microfiber cloth to protect the paint) and to the thin ferrous plate I attached to the back of the phone, but even with several magnets the phone slipped off.
If it’s any help: I’m also going to rig up a USB port to keep the phone charged.
By the way, the phone is just used for its GPS application. The noise in the Wretched Roadster makes speakerphone conversations impossible anyway.
Your thoughts?

Here is what I use. It works great. Hooks over dash panel. Nice and soft, doesn’t scratch.
I guess it won’t work on the roadster or phaeton.

I use the same. It’s a bit pricy though.

I saw an advertisement on tv for Alien tape and thought of this thread, it held a lot of weight and easily removes.

I use a Garmin GPS in the Model A's and stick the small suction cup mount to the flat windshield glass. It holds well there. Easy to see without having to look down.

I find many suction cup-style phone holder choices on Amazon. Maybe you use one of them on the windshield? The Garmin mount holds the GPS fairly close to the glass; that's what I'd look for in a phone mount, not one with a long neck out away from the glass.

I know some states have a law that prohibits sticking a phone or a GPS or anything to the windshield, so if that's your deal, sorry.

This is what I use:

Magnetic base:

Adjustable phone holder that threads into base:

I move this between my vintage vehicles. Holds well, has not damaged the paint.

I use a mount made by a company called Freakmount. They are really big in the motorcycle community. Works great.

I replaced the center dash rail screw with an aluminum phone ball mount. Allows attachment of many different mounts, and is not very noticeable when the mount is removed.
