Default Is it OK to lift a '39 Ford using frame lift

I believe the best way to lift my convertible off the ground is with a "Ramp" lift where all four wheels are on the two ramps and a huge hydraulic cylinder lifts it well off the floor. I have seen other lifts that have four adjustable arms with metal pads at the end of each arm that lift the car by using the car's outer frame edges.

My question is this an acceptable method of lifting or should it be avoided like the plague? Thanks!
