I started sending emails to Macs complaining about their shipping charges at least 10 years ago. I also called them but as you can see, nothing happened. I very seldom use them any more but that doesn't stop them from send me sale emails at least every 3 days. Bob

So here's some more shenanigans from Macs. They're running a June discount of 15% on window and door items. Fill shopping cart with door and window items and apply discount code. Code only applies to some items and not others. Call them on the phone and the guy on the phone offers a lame excuse, something about low-profit items not being discounted. Ask for manager. All managers in a meeting, but guy says if I put a comment in the comment section, then discount will apply to all items. I ask for a guarantee that discount will apply. No answer.

Example-- door handles are discounted, but window cranks aren't.

Pretty evident that they have no intention of trying harder to be "straight-up", and that "deliberately confusing" advertising and double-talk will continue to be the sales theme/method. Time for the serious folks to move-on somewhere else that really APPRECIATES their individual customers. DD

Just placed an order with Joes Antique auto parts on Friday and was in an envelope in my mail box the next day. Order was $20.00 and shipping was $1.50. He is a small business man that knows his product and provides very good service. Oh and he answers the phone and as far as I know he dosen't attend sales meetings.
regards, Don

I just read on Bob drakes web page that he is now charging the customer what the actual shipping charge is. There is still a $2.00 handling fee no matter how many boxes there and he packs to keep the box as small as possible.

Well, I hate this about Macs because I've ordered a lot of parts from them in the past. Don't know what's going on with them but it would be nice if they would figure it out before they lose a lot of customers.

Yesteryear Ford Parts in Michigan. The lady I talked to was so nice I wanted to send her flowers. She said she would try to send my fuel pump rod in a flat rate box. When it didn't fit she sent a note apoligizing. ....... Mark

How many times do you read about companies that were doing well with products and most importantly, customer service right until the point they were sold or merged with a new company-then within a short period, everything starts to spiral downward. When it comes to customer service, it's not rocket science but unfortunately these a--clowns are so obsessed with profit that they forget what drives it...a happy customer. Ok, enough of my rant! So where does a fellow who lives in England (me) order parts from with the same kind of range as Macs? Door lock, dove tails male n female, spot lamp fitting bracket and those sort of doodads? I used to get this stuff from Macs, but that shipping cost is verging on criminal. Don't want all the back order nonsense, if it ain't in stock, it ain't in stock. Don't charge me for stuff you ain't sent.
I'm sure you boys know what I'm on about. A web site would be good, due to time difference. A catalog is also nice, so I can pick it up and tick stuff off.
Who do you think fits this bill? I'm not after free shipping obviously, just fair shipping and parts prices.
many thanks in advance,
Martin.

Mart, get MaxandMickey to pick em up and post them to you. Give him a bung on top and you'd still be quids in.

MaxandMickey, you have a business opportunity beckoning!

Mart.

The smaller vendors have customer service because every customer counts. The larger companies don't care if they lose a customer or not. If the customer service is bad just move on to another vendor. At some point when business starts to drop off on those vendors with poor service they will either change their attitude or go out of business due to lack of customers. We do have power and it's called "buying power". We can rant and rave all day long, but changes will only come about when we as a group stop buying from those with poor customer service.

"So where does a fellow who lives in England (me) order parts from with the same kind of range as Macs?"

C & G Ford seem to have everything and always have had realistic shipping charges when sending stuff to Australia.
They have always sent my parts through USPS priority post who are a LOT cheaper than UPS etc. C & G provide excellent service as well.

Not sure how they would go shipping to England as it is in the opposite direction to Aus however you can get a quote from them ( or any of the others) before finalising the purchase.
