Could this be a Model A magneto drive?
Hi, I bought this part at Ebay labeled as a Model T magneto drive and didn't look close enough on the pictures - now it's plain to see it wouldn't fit the "T" timing cover, and when I got it I found it didn't fit the T block
Pictures of the part attached. Now someone suggested it might be meant for model A instead.. I haven't got any A engine close by to check for fit, but one point against would be that it doesn't fit the standard A timing cover either.. But there are Model A mag drives in this style out there, so I'm asking if anybody recognize this one? For sale (offers?) but shipping might be expensive like $27 back to USA.. (The two last pictures shows similar types of mag drives for the model A I've found on the net.) |

I know that a mag was used on the Model A powered Pietenpol Airplane. Perhaps people in those circles might know..... The included site has at least on pic of the Mag mount. good Luck Roger.

Re: Could this be a Model A magneto drive?
Could that be a picture of the govenor drive adaptor from a Model A engine as installed in a Gleaner combine? The first color picture is of Ken Perkins' mag drive which is currently available for purchase. It acts as a mount for a Slick four cylinder aircraft magneto. Ken followed the idea of the combine engine accessory drive to develop his aluminum casting.

I don't know about Gleaner, but it is not a governor adapter like used on a smiths compressor--that doesn't have a platform
