I escaped the land of fruits and nuts in 1978.

Probably worse than the protected bike lanes they mark some as "bikes may use full lane". Nothing worse than following a 10 MPH bike in the middle of rush hour traffic. I can't understand how someone would be dumb enough to vote for some of these people.

I thought there was supposed to be no politics on these boards. From what I can see, the outfit that produced that video is about nothing BUT politics.

do you realize that the former administration would pay the local government entity to repave a street/road IF they added bike lanes.

We've got a protected car lane in island bay Wellington. no one uses it, it is dangerous the way it is laid out ( even the cyclists say so) and is a bloody great "white elephant" that cost 1mill of the rate payers money. This was the "brainchild" of a "silly *****" "Greenie" mayor who is no longer in office. Get this, when Hilliary clinton visited NZ a couple of years back she biked to the airport to meet her in an official capacity, in the rain and wearing a silly blue plastic raincoat... what an embarassment. These are the sort of idiots we are getting in positions of power and we are getting more all the time and stands to reason that "idiots" or the easily fooled must vote them in

UK France and the Netherlands want petrol/deisel gone by 2040 luckily our govt does not plan to follow suit (yet). The Green Party here who seem to gain more seats each time an election is held would if they had their way.

Don't get me wrong i'm not against electric technology but for governments to portray the internal combustion engine as the "evil enviromental ogre" is "bollocks" in my opinion.

Yep: "Prager University (often stylized as PragerU) is a 501(c)3 non-profit conservative digital media organization. It was founded in 2011 by radio talk show host Dennis Prager and radio producer and screenwriter Allen Estrin. Prager created the website to share conservative perspectives on a wide variety of issues. PragerU is not an accredited academic institution."

Politics are at the root of Everthing we discuss here, in one way or another.
Politics are at the bottom of why car parts are NOT Made in the USA, like
they used to be, because of political regulations, etc.

We here on the FordBarn have One Common bond, and that is the automobile,
and the parts to keep them going.
We better keep abreast of the rules and regulations the government
makes for the complete Auto industry, and this board is one way to
keep informed.

United we stand, divided we fall. Thanks for the informative video.

They let the railroads die, ripped them out and put bike trails here that no one uses. Now I have 4000 semis beating the road in front of my house every day. Soon to be replaced by Amazon drones because everyone has an app for it and wants it now! Sorry for the rant, I prefer yesterday sometimes.

Up to now, the antique car "Industry" and all of its support businesses have been marketplace driven and a wonderful and a relatively benign hobby. It operates within DMV guidelines. I predict in the future, that this "Industry" will be under a form of attack and will require a specific advocacy lobby, not too much different from what the NRA does for gun owners. The Government no longer trusts its citizens to police themselves. Therefor, they feel they must step in and control everyone in the interest of a safe an civilized society.

Particularly maddening to me, the bike lanes are paid for 100% by fees and taxes on automobiles and fuel, while bikes don't even have a registration or license fee. They tax us heavily, remove driving lanes and parking spaces, and get this, there are city ordinances in the works now to allow bikes to roll through stop lights!

Seems like some fear mongering. Drive your cars. Bike lanes are a good idea in my perspective, keep them out of my way. But I don't drive downtown LA, nor would I want to.

As for tightening gas rules... 30yrs from now when gas is not the norm of transport. Us restorers will have a big leg to stand on as hobby (modified maybe not so), finding cheap gas may be another thing. ......but in 30yrs, I might not care.

Actually SEMA helps a lot. I belong to the Association of California Car Clubs. Their newsletter always keeps us informed of adverse legislation regarding older cars. They also let us know what SEMA is doing to help. It's amazing what those screwballs in Sacramento can come up with to cause harm to the hobby. They are real good at raising "fees".
